The Band

When differences are brought together and combined often the result is something quite special and different. So it is with moonplain. moonplain is the fusion of four individual musicians who have each been searching for a new way of creating music. Through happy coincident they met and fused – moonplain was born.

The moonplain mission statement can be summarised as “we will create our own music, going in the direction we choose and when this is no longer conventional then we can be sure of creating something new and special”. moonplain‘s music is difficult to classify but generally it has a strong melody with some melancholic tendencies built onto an Indie Rock and Pop tapestry. The music is complex and challenging while also reflecting the dreams of the four individual personalities to create something special.

2009 has seen the release of the first moonplain album “the voice in your head” and features songs first heard in the 2008 open air festival season.

Summer 2005:
Mick Madonna and Dave Egloff started the moonplain project and wrote the first songs

Summer 2006:
With Ruggero De Pellegrini (Bass) and Franco Crupi (Drums) the band has been completed – moonplain was born

Mai 2008:
Moonplain played their first gig at the Krach am Bach Festival in Tägerwilen, many gigs followed

2008:
Moonplain recorded the debut album “The Voice in your Head” in their own recording studio, and started searching for a record label

April 2009:
Moonplain signed a record deal with Universal Music Switzerland

May 2009:
First single “Higher” was released. Song and video clip have been played all over Switzerland more than 1′400 times!

Moonplain was supporting act for Snow Patrol in Winterthur

June 2009:
The album “The Voice in your Head” was released

The single “Higher” entered the Top100 of the Swiss airplay charts!

July 2009:
The single “Higher” made it onto the compilation “BRAVO Hits 66”

October 2009:
“Higher” made it onto the compilation “Die grössten Schweizer Hits 2009” (The greates Swiss Hits 2009)

November 2009:
New single “One Flower” has been released

December 2009:
“One Flower” made it onto the compilation “10 Years 20 minutes” which was presented to 5′000 20min readers.
